In 2017, Latin American steel imports from China decreased by 8%

In 2017, China's total steel exports amounted to 72.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 31%, including 66.6 million tons of steel structures and 6.2 million tons of steel derivatives. In 2017, Latin America imported 7 million tons of steel from China, down 8%. From the perspective of import destinations, the Central American region imported 1.4 million tons of steel from China, 1.4 million tons from Chile, and 966 thousand tons from Peru.
