Brazil's S11D iron ore exports increased by 41% in the first quarter

In the first quarter of this year, Brazil'sVale's S11D iron ore exports in the state of Pará were 15.9 million tons, up41% from 11.3 million tons in the same period last year. Exports were $798million, an increase of 41% from $566 million in the same period last year.


In 2018, the S11D iron ore export volume was59.4 million tons, and the export volume was 2.87 billion US dollars. The minewas put into operation in December 2016, and the export volume in January 2017was 26,500 tons. In May 2018, Vale predicted that the S11D iron ore productionwill be 70-80 million tons in 2019 and 90 million tons in 2020. In December2018, Vale confirmed that it will invest 770 million US dollars to expand theS11D iron ore. It is planned to reach 100 million tons by 2022.
