Most Shipping Costs Drop BDI Index Continued to Decline

    On December 15, the BDI index was at 1619 points, down 49 points, or -2.94%, from the previous day.The Baltic Sea Capesize Index (BCI) shed 159 points or -4.04% to 3777 points. The average daily profit fell 1,486 U.S. dollars to 25,859 U.S. dollars.The Baltic Panamax Shipping Index (BPI) dropped 37 points, or -2.16%, to 1677. Average daily profit fell 287 dollars to 13,421 US dollars.Among smaller vessels, the BSI dropped 2 points to 942. The daily average profit dropped 21 dollars to 10,817 U.S. dollars. The Handy Shipping Index (BHSI) was up 1 point at 636 points. The daily average profit rose 16 U.S. dollars to 9,276 U.S. dollars.
